SBE International Conferences

The Sociedad de Biofísica de España, or SBE (in English Spanish Biophysical Society) regularly hosts multidisciplinary international conferences to promote scientific collaboration and highlight innovative, new technologies and learn from peer experiences and insights.

Their most recent Conference (the XVIII International Congress) took place in Madrid in 2025 ((June 24–27). One more noteworthy event took place recently in Montpellier, France: the 2026 Joint European South Atlantic Biophysics Congress in Montpellier (June 17–19).

These symposiums are the reference meetings for biophysics research across the Iberian Peninsula. The Spanish Biophysical Society frequently collaborates with European partners, such as the French Biophysics Society (SFB) and the Portuguese Biophysical Society (SPBf).

The scientific programs at these Conferences typically address Cell & Tissue Biophysics, Protein Structure, Mechanobiology, Protein Structure, Applied Biophysics in Biotechnology & Health, Dynamics, and Aggregation. Additionally, there usually are satellite workshops targeted at young researchers and travel fellowships are available to boost student attendance.

About the Spanish Biophysical Society

The Biophysical Society Spain (Sociedad de Biofísica de España) was founded in 1986 and it aims to stimulate the contact between the international Biophysics community and biophysicists employed in Spain.

To fulfill these goals, the SBE organizes a National Scientific Event each year, providing funds for young members and students to attend the Congress. Society Members receive a considerable discount to attend these gatherings, and the SBE additionally offers substantial travel grants for young Society members to attend conferences within Spain.

The SBE is an important member of the European Biophysical Societies Association and actively supports international collaboration.

SBE Members benefit from this by receiving discounts for Congress fees and obtaining travel grants. Additionally, the SBE is a member of the Latino-American Federation of Biophysical Societies to support the dissemination of Biophysics and related science on the continent that has so many close ties with Spain.
