iSurgitec2015

The iSurgitec Conference started in 2008 when four groups of surgeons met in Madrid, Spain, to discuss the application of technology to surgical problems. They agreed to meet annually to explore opportunities for the application of technology in surgery.

The Conference brings together leaders in surgery and industry experts from across the world to compare and highlight new technologies and process advancements, and to discuss opportunities for future collaboration.

At the Conference, experts in surgical technology are discussing groundbreaking innovations at the forefront of developing new, less painful, less invasive surgical systems that enable quicker patient recovery.

The iSurgitec Conference

The iSurgitec Conference is for leaders in surgical technology innovation. In the near future, surgery will be increasingly less invasive and more technology-driven and image-guided.

At the Conference, technological developments at the forefront of new, less painful, less invasive surgical systems are highlighted, enabling quicker patient recovery.

Microrobotics and innovative energy delivery systems for destroying tumors are new developments, and better, real-time, in-surgery diagnoses of cancer are now possible.

All these developments have a strong potential for commercialization and small business development, but they require the retraining of the field’s engineers specialists.

The 2015 iSurgitec Symposium

The 2015 iSurgitec Conference (formally called “iSurgitec 2015: Design, Technology & Security in Surgery”) was an important international congress of technological developments in surgery. The symposium was held over two days (October 29 and 30) in Seville, Spain, at the Hospital Universitario Virgen del Rocío.

Surgeons, biomedical engineers, and medical researchers came together to discuss the intersection of technology development and surgical applications, clinical practice, and design.

The symposium included specialized sessions covering topics such as innovative technology for surgical applications, surgical robotics, and medical device tracking. It served as a critical hub for professionals from the surgical and related worlds to exchange experiences and ideas on engineering in operating rooms and biomedical devices.

Surgical Robotics

A highly specialized keynote lecture, titled Robots in surgery: an engineers point of view, was presented by Dr. José María Sabater Navarro. It highlighted the precision requirements, physical limitations, and safety protocols necessary in the design and development of surgical robotic systems.

The 2015 iSurgitec Symposium event was backed by research foundations such as the Foundation for Biomedical Research Management in Seville (FISEVI), and took place in the clinical learning lab environments of the Hospital Universitario Virgen del Rocío in Seville, Spain.
