The European Focused Ultrasound Charitable Society (EUFUS)
The European Focused Ultrasound Charitable Society (EUFUS) focuses on improving the lives of millions of individuals by making focused ultrasound available worldwide as quickly as possible.
When applying Focused Ultrasound Technology, ultrasound energy is targeted at a specific area of the body without harming any surrounding healthy tissue.
Focused ultrasound has been approved for almost 40 treatment applications, including Parkinson’s disease, tremor, liver tumors, bone metastases, uterine fibroids, the prostate, and chronic low back pain.
International Society for Therapeutic Ultrasound (ISTU)
The ISTU (The International Society for Therapeutic Ultrasound was founded in 2001. It is a U.S.-based nonprofit organization that aims to expand and disseminate knowledge of therapeutic ultrasound and its applications across the medical and scientific communities.
The Society promotes the facilitation and translation of innovative, groundbreaking therapeutic ultrasound techniques in scientific and medical settings and promote its clinical practices for the benefit of patients and medical innovations worldwide.
Focused Ultrasound
Focused Ultrasound is an innovative treatment therapy and can be an alternative or complementary therapy to traditional radiation and surgery.
It is a new way to enhance cancer immunotherapy and deliver drugs more effectively. Focused Ultrasound has the potential of becoming an outpatient therapy where no incisions will be needed, meaning it will result in speedier recovery and fewer complications such as tissue damage, infections, or hemorrhage.
The 2019 Joint Conference
From June 13 to 15, 2019, scientists, clinicians, engineers, and industry professionals from around the globe gathered in Barcelona (Spain) for the first-ever joint meeting of the two organizations.
The Conference was held at the impressive historic building of the University of Barcelona (Universitat de Barcelona), one of the city’s most emblematic sites. Architect Elies Rogent designed the building, one of the most focal points in the Catalan capital.
